This year’s Armed Forces Day has seen growing support from companies and organisations across the UK offering discounts on varied services and products. This is primarily to Armed Forces personnel and their families as a thank you from the communities they live in.

Boston Hannah International has produced the official Armed Forces Day tribute publication.

The magazine, which is on sale in WHSmith shops across the country, includes articles highlighting the roles of the Armed Forces, and the contributions of our Veterans, Reserves and Cadet Forces.

British Speedway Promoters Association

British Speedway remains one of the popular motorsports in the country with three domestic leagues, its own Speedway Grand Prix and an annual entry into the Speedway World Cup.

The British Speedway Promoters Association is offering Service Personnel and their families’ free admission to meetings during the Armed Forces Day celebrations. As a member of the Armed Forces you can take your family along to one of the race meetings, just turn up and present your military ID card on the door for free entry.

National Express

National Express train companies, National Express East Anglia (NXEA) and c2c are proudly offering serving members and veterans of the armed forces up to 1,500 complimentary train tickets for travel to an Armed Forces Day event between Monday 21 and Sunday 27 June in the East Anglia region where both NXEA and c2c operate train services.

North Norfolk Railway

The North Norfolk Railway’s Poppy Line runs between Sheringham and Holt, along a scenic route named by The Sunday Times as Britain’s best full-size heritage railway. On June 26th, a mix of steam and vintage diesel trains provides a 45 minute service; on June 27th there are four steam services. Refreshments are available at the three Victorian stations of Sheringham, Weybourne and Holt; and there is the William Marriott Railway Museum at Holt Station.

The railway is offering a free family ticket (for 2 adults + 2 children, or 3 adults + 1 child) to all serving members of the armed forces, on presentation of a valid ID/warrant card at any of the three stations, on June 26/27. The tickets are hop-on, hop-off, allowing people to explore the nature walks on Kelling Heath and Sheringham Park, or the towns of Sheringham and Holt, between trains. Public pay car park at Sheringham, railway pay car park at Holt Station (just off the A148 at High Kelling, a mile from Holt town)

Paradigm

Servicemen and women on operations around the world will have the chance to talk longer on the phone to their family and friends as part of a special Armed Forces Day offer.

Armed Forces personnel deployed on operational duty who top up their Paradigm phone card between now and Friday 25 June will get 10 per cent additional talk time.

Paradigm has been responsible for the provision of WelComE (Welfare Communications Everywhere) services to the UK MoD since September 1999.
