This annual event in the Mansfield Town Centre is our ‘Thank you’ to all the armed forces, past, present & future, and to recognise the part they play to keep us safe.
The day starts with a parade, led by Mansfield District Corps of Drums, followed by Armed Forces Representatives, flag bearers, cadets, and associated charities. Flags are handed to the public to wave as the parade leaves from The Buttercross area, next to the library on West Gate down to the main event on the Market Place.
The official opening ceremony follows the parade. This raises the awareness of importance of the armed forces and is given by the Nottinghamshire Armed Forces champion and Mansfield Mayor.
The day is an opportunity for the public to engage with many Armed Forces groups and associated charities who have given their time to be present on this important day.
Also on display are vintage army vehicles, a Top Gun flight simulator activity, free flags & glider planes.
There’s live music from a 1940’s trio and Rat Pack singer, and many different foods to enjoy.
