AFD runs from 12noon to 3.30pm but prior is a Drum Head service. Held annually for several years it is extremely well received/attended & organised to show show support to the Armed Forces. Crowd is a mixture of young & old & the programme is designed to attract & appeal to a wide audience. Indication from the local 8 Rifles that they will be attending, invited other armed forces, local cadets & career offices. Historically a good turn out from veterans & other organisations including RAF, SSAFA, Royal British Legion, Help for Heroes & Durham Light Infantry. There will be live entertainment, children’s inflatables & fun fair rides & array of stall available to hire generally occupied by DLI (display medals), armed forces, charities & organisations. It is hoped there will be military vehicles. To try and bolster this event and really put it on the map we have submitted n application to the Red Devils for a parachute which has been booked in provisionally and also submitted a RAF fly past request . Catering will also be on site. Hopeful to have the Deputy Lord Lieutenant in attendance along with Mayor,
